From bale to garment to my shelves from English Fine Cottons

Joe & Co x English Fine Cottons
As you may be aware or not Joe & Co are producers of the finest tee shirts, sweats and all things jersey in the UK and heres why
I have been working with English Fine Cottons since there inception. In 2015 they bought an old Victorian cotton mill (Tower Mill) in Dukinfield bringing new life and current technology into British Manufacturing
They are the only commercial cotton spinner in the UK for the first time in 50 years
I have also been working with British manufacturers for over 35 years and this has to be one of finest examples of manufacturing I have ever seen, with the newest technology in spinning machines
All the yarns used in my collections can be traced back, not just from the farm but from the bale and who actually picked it, right down to the spinning, knitting and crafting of each garment........ Transparency is so important nowadays, you actually know where you goods come from, who made them, and the fact they are being paid a decent living wage and not used as slaves as in most countries in manufacturing, knowing that I can sleep at night
The yarns I use are Australian long staple super cotton & Californian long staple Supma fine cotton

Australian Super Cotton
Is premium cotton - so premium that it’s in a class of its own. Australian Super Cotton has long staple (fibre) length -this means we can create a stronger garment out of less yarn. Fewer fibres in turn means softness and a more luxurious feel. The raw premium cotton feels very soft and silky but it’s not only the feel that is beautiful
This cotton plant is grown at Rogan Pastoral Co, a fourth generation 100% Australian owned and operated, family farm, the home of Australian Super Cotton. The family has been growing upland cotton at St George, in Queensland since 1976 and their innovative farming methods have seen them recognised as industry leaders
 Supima Fine Cotton
Not all cottons are created equal. Supima cotton is a superior type of cotton grown in the USA. It represents less than 1% of cotton grown in the world. What makes Supima unique to other cottons is the extra-long staple fiber that gives the cotton its premium properties: Strength, Softness and Color retention

Supima is twice as strong as regular cotton, which makes for extraordinarily resilient products. The longer fiber resists pulling, breaking and tearing, resulting in Joe & Co products that are incredibly resilient and keep their form for a longer-lasting product
Supima is inherently softer and more luxurious due to its extra-long staple fiber. The length of the fiber produces smoother, cleaner yarns that result in a softer fabric that resists pilling. This means that your products will feel sumptuously soft and only get softer as time passes

Pima is the generic name for ELS cotton grown in the US. It was named after the Pima Indians, who tended the cotton fields in Arizona in the early 20th century
